Fire at apartment complex in Rockland County after injuring 2, including firefighter

Firefighters remained at the site Tuesday morning, addressing a fire that occurred at a Rockland County apartment complex, - ABC 7 News reports.

 

The blaze ignited at 9:30 p.m. on Monday at the Surrey Carlton Apartments, located near Ewing Avenue in Spring Valley.  It rekindled overnight, and NewsCopter 7 was overhead early Tuesday morning after crews had to douse the flames again.

 

Two individuals sustained injuries during the incident: a firefighter struck by falling debris and a woman discovered unconscious and subsequently rescued by residents. Fortunately, both injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.

 

The fire caused heavy damage to at least 20 residences. Fire investigators were working to determine the cause.
