New York police announced on Tuesday the voluntary surrender of the second person involved in the case of a crypto crime related to the alleged torture of an Italian citizen in the Soho area.
William Duplessie, the second suspect, reported to detectives at the 13th Precinct at 7:45 a.m. He is expected to be charged with kidnapping, assault and unlawful imprisonment.
The first suspect, John Woeltz, was taken into custody without bail after being questioned on Saturday morning, and his passport was confiscated. He is charged with battery, kidnapping, illegal retention and illegal possession of firearms. The next court hearing in his case is scheduled for May 28.
Police have arrested and charged Woeltz and another person in connection with the incident that took place in an apartment in Soho on Friday. According to authorities, Welz lived at an address on Prince Street.
Another suspect, a woman, was also arrested, but she has not yet been charged.
According to police, a group of people lived in an apartment on Prince Street, turning it into a place of brutality after they allegedly lured a former partner in a cryptocurrency business from Italy there in order to obtain the password to his crypto wallet, and then held him against his will for several weeks and tortured him.
