A 56-year-old man was stabbed in the head on a subway train in Harlem on Monday morning, ABC News7 informs.
Police say he was stabbed on southbound Train No. 1 when it arrived at 145th Street Station shortly after 6 a.m.
It looks like he was sleeping on the train when he was attacked for an unknown reason.
The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside with a head injury and is in stable condition.
Not understanding what's going on keeps passengers on edge.
"They just kill people and cut them with knives for no reason. It's too much. And every policeman can't be at every station all the time," said one of the passengers.
The police managed to detain the suspect immediately after the attack, as there were two officers patrolling on this particular train.
The suspect is being held in the New York Police Department's 3rd District Transportation Bureau, and charges have been filed against him.
