On Monday morning, March 4th, a state-of-the-art electric vehicle charging hub debuted in Midtown Manhattan, courtesy of Gravity, a New York-based startup backed by Google, - Spectrum New NY 1 says.

This 24-stall charging station, situated at 401 W. 42nd St., represents a groundbreaking advancement, boasting the title of the fastest charging hub in the nation, capable of charging at a remarkable rate of 2,400 miles per hour. According to Gravity's announcement on Monday, this means approximately 200 miles of range can be attained in just five minutes.

Moshe Cohen, CEO of Gravity Inc., emphasized the significance of rapid charging for drivers, stating, "Automakers love to tout their EVs’ top driving speed, but what matters more than anything for drivers is how fast a car can charge." He further highlighted the remarkable capability of their technology, which can provide a vehicle with 40 miles of range in just a minute of charging. Cohen expressed a vision to accelerate the industry's transition towards vehicles equipped with faster-charging batteries.

The charging hub is accessible to all major fleet operators and electric vehicle owners from the general public. Gravity has designed the charging systems to be ceiling-mounted, facilitating installation within existing parking spaces without the need for additional real estate. Operating seven days a week, the hub offers tap-to-go payment options for added convenience.
