A court hearing was held on Wednesday in the case of a nanny detained on suspicion of mistreating three children under her supervision, Eyewitness News informs.
24-year-old La'Keysha Jackson has been charged with four counts of assault and two counts of endangering the health of a minor.
According to the lawyer representing the family, the actions of the babysitter, who worked under the city program, were recorded by a surveillance camera in early May. The recording shows how she repeatedly uses force against three boys entrusted to her care.
After the release of the video, the Bronx District Attorney issued an arrest warrant for Jackson. The investigation found that in the video Jackson strikes with a belt three children under her care, whose ages are 2, 4 and 6 years.
The lawsuit filed by the family alleges that Jackson inflicted a total of 58 blows on the children. The lawsuit also says that she hit one child on the bed, and the other with a hanger.
Lawyers also claim that a clown mask was found in the closet, which was used to intimidate children.
The court set bail for Jackson at $75,000. Her next court appearance is scheduled for August 12.
