Lower Manhattan witnessed a chaotic scene when a car collided with a pole and erupted in flames, ABC 7 News writes.

The incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on Friday at the intersection of Nassau Street and Maiden Lane.

Authorities report that the driver was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

The cause of the crash remains unknown.
