A man found bound at the hands and feet with severe head trauma near a Queens highway this week has been identified as 57-year-old Emmanuel Moncoeur, a realtor and Haitian immigrant, ABC News 7 reports.
 

The medical examiner determined Moncoeur died from blunt force trauma to the head, ruling his death a homicide.
 

His body was discovered Tuesday morning in the grass off the Clearview Expressway Authorities say he had suffered a skull fracture from the impact, and by the time he was found, his body was already decomposing. It remains unclear how long he had been there, and forensic analysis will determine the time of death.
 

Friends of Moncoeur are struggling to comprehend the brutal nature of his killing.
 

"I understand bad things happen in the world, but kidnapping someone, tying them up like that—it's too much," said longtime friend Valery Pierre.
 

A disabled driver stumbled upon Moncoeur’s body earlier in the week. He was last seen by his housemates on January 2.
 

"I heard him leaving the apartment while I was sleeping, but when I tried calling him that evening, he didn’t answer," Pierre recalled. "After three, four, five days, six days—it was so unusual."
 

Moncoeur lived in a multi-family home in Forest Hills, where his housemates were like family.
 

Pierre said he initially filed a report with two officers but didn’t receive any updates until NYPD detectives arrived this week to search Moncoeur’s apartment after his body was found.
 

"I thought maybe he was in a car accident, maybe in the hospital and no one knew," Pierre said. "So I called 911 just to find out."
 

Authorities confirmed Moncoeur had no criminal record, no prior police history, and was never officially reported missing.
