Early Sunday morning, a fallen tree obstructed Fifth Avenue near 93rd Street in the Upper East Side, a consequence of Saturday's heavy rainstorm, - Spectrum News NY1 informs.

The tree's collapse crushed cars on both sides of the street, halting traffic in the area.

Residents expressed astonishment at the aftermath, still processing the event a day later. Arnie Ursaner, a local resident, shared his apprehension, reflecting on the size of the fallen tree in the heart of New York City. He recounted the near miss with his own parked car, emphasizing the stroke of luck.

The cleanup effort, spearheaded by the city's Department of Parks and Recreation, commenced promptly on Sunday morning. The task proved arduous, requiring meticulous removal of smaller branches before tackling the main trunk. Observers like Bob Makarowski lamented the capriciousness of nature, sympathizing with the affected vehicles.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries resulting from the incident. However, the storm's impact extended beyond the fallen tree, with widespread flooding affecting areas like the Cross Island Parkway. Despite the cessation of rainfall, city officials advised vigilance against black ice on Sunday.
