NYPD: Cyclist struck and killed by FDNY truck in Park Slope

A 24-year-old cyclist was killed Wednesday night after being struck by an FDNY pick-up truck on 4th Avenue in Brooklyn, according to police, Channel 12th Brooklyn informs. 

The crash occurred around 8:15 p.m. near the intersection of Sackett Street and Fourth Avenue. The FDNY reported that the truck was responding to an emergency call about a choking infant at the time of the collision. 
 

Upon arrival, police found the cyclist with severe head and body injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Video footage captured shortly after the incident shows damage to the truck, including a broken headlight. 
 

Police say the truck was driven by a 44-year-old man who remained at the scene. No arrests have been made, and the FDNY stated that the cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
