An NYPD officer is recovering after being hit by a car in Brooklyn on Tuesday, ABC News 7 reports.

According to police, officers spotted a dark-colored sedan driving recklessly near Atlantic Avenue and Eastern Parkway in East New York around 9:30 p.m.

As they tried to stop the vehicle, it accelerated and struck one of the officers.

The injured officer was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

One person has been taken into custody, with charges pending.
