Two on-duty Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) employees were injured after a man struck them with his scooter at the Eastchester-Dyre Avenue subway station in the Eastchester section of the Bronx, ABC News 7 informs.
The incident occurred when the workers attempted to wake the man up who was sleeping on the platform of the No. 5 train.
According to authorities, the man reacted violently, becoming agitated and allegedly spitting at the workers before wielding his Razor scooter as a weapon. A 37-year-old train conductor sustained a facial injury after being struck by the scooter. A 46-year-old train operator, attempting to assist his colleague, was hit in the hand.
Both injured MTA employees were transported to Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital for medical evaluation.
The suspect, described as a male between 18 and 22 years old, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants, fled the scene and remains at large.
