Two men are facing charges following an alleged road rage stabbing on the Upper East Side in Manhattan, - ABC 7 News reports.

According to police, the men got into an argument in Queens around 7 p.m. on Tuesday. As they drove into Manhattan, they repeatedly cut each other off.  The confrontation reached its peak near East 62nd Street and Lexington Avenue, where 38-year-old Shaker Ahmad, operating a yellow pickup truck, stabbed 28-year-old Antal Lakatos, who was driving a black sedan.

Following the stabbing, Ahmad dropped his knife and asserted to told responding officers that he was innocent.

Lakatos sustained stab wounds to his face and neck and was transported to New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

Police assert that Lakatos intentionally rammed his vehicle into Ahmad's car on the Queensboro Bridge and subsequently at the intersection of East 62nd Street and Lexington Avenue, causing it to collide with a telephone pole.

Ahmad faces charges of attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon, while Lakatos is charged with assault.

Both individuals have a history of prior arrests. Ahmad was previously apprehended for attempted murder in December 2013 in Queens, involving the severe beating of another individual, as well as a previous arrest for robbery at knifepoint in Brooklyn in October 2014. Lakatos has a prior arrest related to several instances of grand larceny auto, stemming from the theft of a vehicle from an Avis rental in Connecticut.
