Teacher and mother of 3 killed in hit-and-run in Dumont, NJ; 94-year-old charged

In a tragic incident, a beloved teacher from New Jersey lost her life in a hit-and-run accident, - ABC News7 reports.
 

Elizabeth Rosa, aged 54, was not only an integral part of the community but also a dedicated educator within the Englewood Public School District. 
 

The hit-and-run occurred around 5:19 p.m. on Thursday, March 14th, as Rosa was crossing the intersection of Madison and Washington avenues. One of her daughters rushed to the scene and saw her mother's nearly lifeless body on the road. That daughter's shock has local residents still shaking. "Her scream was like it came from under the ground and out of her, and I know her and it's just horrible," said Jimmy Luca, a business owner. "I've never heard a scream like that in my whole life."
 

On Friday March 15th, authorities formally charged Ernest Hoffman, aged 94, in connection with the collision.
 

Remembered affectionately as a mother of three grown daughters, Rosa's warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Describing her as "the epitome of kindness," one acquaintance recalled Rosa as someone you'd always want to meet.
