Firefighters battled a large fire that destroyed a synagogue in Rockland County on Wednesday morning. - ABC 7 News reports.

Flames broke out in the building situated on North Ridge Road at approximately 6 a.m. Video footage showed a huge column of smoke rising from the building visible for miles. The fire was discovered when a member of the congregation arrived for morning prayers and called 911.

Upon the arrival of law enforcement and firefighting units, the structure was already engulfed entirely by flames. Windows were blowing out due to the intensity of the blaze, and fire had spread to brush behind the structure. When the situation was eventually brought under control, only a fragment of the front wall remained standing, with the roof having succumbed to collapse.

Thankfully, there were no reported injuries amidst the chaos.
