Two suspected gang members sentenced to 40 years to life for road rage killing of dad in Plainfield, - Eyewitness News ABC 7 reports.

Two individuals suspected of gang affiliation, Douglas Coudrey, 26, from Eastport, and Kenneth Regan, 25, from Centereach, received a sentencing of 40 years to life on Friday for their involvement in the killing of a Plainview father during a road rage altercation.

The incident occurred on January 14, 2020, resulting in the death of 27-year-old Justin Gottlieb in front of his parents' residence. Coudrey and Regan were found guilty of murder and weapons charges last month. The fatal shooting ensued from a chance road rage confrontation, prompting the assailants to pursue Gottlieb to his family's home, where the tragic event unfolded.

"Justin Gottlieb was returning home to his young family after a day's work when he was ambushed and shot by Douglas Coudrey and Kenneth Regan following an altercation during his commute," stated DA Anne Donnelly. "Despite his struggle, Justin managed to provide crucial identification of the assailants before succumbing to his injuries. Shortly after this heinous act, Coudrey and Regan were apprehended for their alleged involvement in another fatal shooting of a motorist in New Jersey. Justin's daughter will never have the chance to know the man who was cherished by numerous family members and friends due to the reprehensible actions of these individuals."

Coudrey and Regan are also awaiting trial for another murder case in Bergen County, linked to a separate road rage incident that occurred four days after Gottlieb's death.

In that instance, the victim, 27-year-old Luis Perez from the Bronx, was pursued across the George Washington Bridge into Lodi, where he met a tragic end on Interstate 80 from fatal gunshot wounds. Another individual, 24-year-old Jose Mercado, who was in the front passenger seat, sustained gunshot injuries to the chest but survived.
