The suspect has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting in Queens that authorities believe could have been the result of a love triangle, Eyewitness New 7 informs.
The shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday at the corner of 119th Street and 29th Avenue in College Point.
The 50-year-old victim, Antonio Kantor, suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died.
According to neighbors, Kantor was returning home from shopping with his girlfriend when he was shot.
"I was in the store, just relaxing, and I heard some noise... five or eight shots were fired," said John Red, who works in the area. "The dog barked, and I thought: "Come here, there's something going on."
When distraught family members arrived at the scene, police identified the 55-year-old suspect.
Jose Centeno was detained on Friday morning for questioning, after which he was arrested and charged with murder and illegal possession of weapons.
Neighbors claim that video from surveillance cameras captured a fight between two men.
A woman, presumably Centeno's ex-wife and Kantor's current girlfriend, tried to break up the fight when shots rang out.
Neighbors say they remembered Kantor as a good jack-of-all-trades who was always in his red pickup truck, ready to help a neighbor in need.
The area is relatively quiet.
According to NYPD crime statistics, there were four shootings in the area in 2025, while there were none last year.
