Two workers were saved from a dangerous situation when the front porch of a residence collapsed on them in Laurelton, Queens, - ABC News 7 informs.
The incident occurred on Tuesday morning at a single-family dwelling located at 135-40 229 St. Engaged in excavation works at the property they became pinned by a concrete slab.
Emergency crews employed life-saving equipment to remove the heavy slabs and extricate the workers from the precarious situation. Both individuals were successfully rescued and transported to Jamaica Hospital, where they received treatment for their non-life-threatening injuries.
Following the incident, the Department of Buildings issued a violation for the failure to maintain the building and a partial vacate order specifically for the front section of the house.
The investigation is currently underway.
