An incident occurred in Times Square when a food cart worker was shot in the arm during a clash with a group of young people, ABC News 7 reports.
A twenty-nine-year-old man was shot in the right arm at the intersection of Seventh Avenue and West 47th Street around 5 am on Wednesday.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he is recovering.
According to a police statement, the cause of the conflict started over stolen food from a Halal stand. After an exchange of harsh words, the group left, but one of its members returned and fired several shots at the employee.
Shortly after the incident, police detained three suspects at a nearby metro station. Authorities suggest that one of the detainees may be involved in the shooting.
Law enforcement officials emphasize that any manifestation of violence in such a busy area is of serious concern.
The police are continuing to search for other people involved in the incident, as there were more than ten people in the group.
