36-year-old woman, Tamika Powell, found shot in Prospect Heights street

A tragedy occurred in the Prospect Heights neighborhood on Wednesday evening, when 36-year-old Tamika Powell was found dead on the street, according to NYPD.

The woman's body was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head at the intersection of Carlton Avenue and Pacific Street shortly after 10:20 p.m. 

Upon arrival at the scene, medical professionals confirmed her death. 

The police are conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and whether Tamika was an accidental victim or a target. 

News of the tragedy quickly spread, and the victim's relatives, who were nearby at a barbecue, rushed to the scene. 

According to preliminary reports, the suspect fled the scene eastward on Pacific Street. Witnesses describe him as a man wearing beige pants, a white shirt and a black mask. 

As of now, no one has been detained. It is worth noting that the incident occurred near the Barclays Center, where the NBA draft was held that evening.
