A five-year-old was struck and killed by a car in Queens, - ABC News7 reports.
The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. on Saturday on 124th Street in College Point, right next to a playground.
According to police, the boy ran out between two parked cars when he was struck.
An eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, reported hearing only the driver's voice. "She started saying, 'Oh my god, oh my god, why did this happen to me? I didn't mean to do it—it was an accident,'" she said.
The driver remained at the scene, and no criminal charges are suspected.
"This is crazy because speed bumps need to be put all over the park," said neighbor Ada Herrera.
People who know the victim's family mentioned that what is even more shocking is that they often saw the boy at the park without his parents.
The investigation is ongoing.
