6 people hurt after fire in apartment building in Woodside, Queens

Following an overnight blaze that engulfed an apartment complex in Queens, 6 people are currently recovering, FDNY informs.
The incident occurred on Saturday just before the hour of 3 a.m. at a building on 48th Avenue between 47th and 48th streets.
The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) reported that over 60 firefighters and emergency medical service staff were dispatched to the location. Authorities indicated that the fire originated on the ground floor and was successfully was put under control by approximately 3:30 a.m.
The event resulted in minor injuries to five occupants of the building, as well as one firefighter.
"I was on duty at the bar when I noticed the arrival of numerous fire engines. Upon stepping outside, I witnessed smoke billowing from the initial apartment on the ground level. It's a dreadful sight," commented one of the witnesses.
At present, investigators are working to understand the origin of the fire.
