A man was arrested following a road rage incident in Fair Lawn on Thursday night that resulted in another man being struck by a car, ABC News7 reports.
The incident occurred just before 7:30 p.m. near Berdan Avenue and Malcolm Terrace, where a 70-year-old man was struck and injured.
Exclusive doorbell footage captured the intensity of the situation. The victim, who was with his 27-year-old son, recounted that their gold Toyota Camry was hit by a white Hyundai Sonata on Plaza Drive near Route 208.
The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 66-year-old Norberto Herrera, then sped away, nearly running over the victim. The video shows the Camry speeding up to the Hyundai and cutting it off. The victim exited his car, seemingly to take a photo.
The white sedan then backed up, made a U-turn, and struck the victim, sending him flying as he approached the car.
Ralph Polo, along with other neighbors, rushed to assist the victim.
"I heard all the commotion, I came outside, and the guy was on the ground bleeding profusely," Polo said. "I asked, 'How did this happen?' He replied, 'I thought he was going to turn off, but he decided to go straight, cut me off, and ran into me.'"
The victim was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police quickly tracked down Herrera. He was arrested and charged with assault by auto, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, unsafe lane change, and careless driving before being released.
