At least two people were injured in a small explosion at a Brooklyn apartment building on Friday, according to FDNY officials, PIX 11 New York informs/
Firefighters were called to 514 Rockaway Parkway, located between Linden Boulevard and Church Avenue, around 12:40 p.m. after reports of a small explosion and smoke in the basement, officials said.
Two individuals were transported to a hospital, though their conditions are currently unknown, fire officials reported.
This incident occurred just over two miles from another explosion in Brooklyn, where multiple families in the East Flatbush area were displaced following a blast at 790 East 37th St. on Thursday night.
Due to structural damage caused by the explosion, the Department of Buildings issued a full vacate order for homes surrounding the affected building. Inspectors also found an illegal apartment in a neighboring home, officials noted.
As of Friday afternoon, the causes of both explosions were still under investigation.
