violent incident at a Manhattan deli left one man dead and two others wounded Wednesday evening.
New York City police responded to a triple stabbing at the Ameer Deli and Grill in Inwood, located at the intersection of Broadway and West 212th Street.
The attack, which took place around 5:30 p.m., resulted in the death of a 24-year-old man who suffered a stab wound to the neck. He was transported to New York-Presbyterian Allen Hospital but succumbed to his injuries. A 20-year-old man, also stabbed in the neck, was rushed to Harlem Hospital. A third victim, a 21-year-old man, was stabbed in the arm and back and taken to New York-Presbyterian Allen Hospital. Authorities believe the two surviving victims will recover.
The motive behind the stabbings remains unclear, but preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect and the victims were not acquainted.
Detectives were observed collecting evidence at the scene, marking areas of interest both inside and outside the deli. Witnesses reported that a knife, and possibly a scalpel, were used in the attack.
Surveillance footage captured the aftermath of the stabbings, showing an individual in a blood-soaked white shirt fleeing the store. The video then shows someone assisting the injured man and leading him to a parked Honda CRV, which was later towed away by police.
While a suspect is currently in custody, no formal charges have been filed as the investigation continues. Residents in the area expressed concern about the frequency of violence in their neighborhood.
