Dr. Monika Woroniecka, a 58-year-old pediatrician specializing in immunology at Stony Brook Children's Hospital, tragically lost her life in a devastating incident, - ABC News 7 reports.
Dr. Woroniecka, along with her family, was en route to witness the solar eclipse in upstate New York. Woroniecka's husband, Robert Woroniecki, was driving the pickup truck that was hauling the trailer. The wind blew the trailer's door open as the family was headed west on Route 12E in the town of Brownville and Woroniecka was thrown from the trailer. She suffered a fatal head injury upon impact with the roadside shoulder. She was brought to a hospital, where she died.
However, it's important to note that riding in a "house coach trailer" while hitched to a vehicle on the road is prohibited by law.
