A Brooklyn driver faces serious charges following a devastating multi-car collision that claimed the lives of a mother and her two daughters, while critically injuring her son.
Thirty-two-year-old Miriam Yarimi is accused of multiple counts of manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and second-degree assault. Additionally, she is charged with reckless driving, operating a vehicle without a license, failing to yield at a red light, and exceeding the speed limit.
The tragic incident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. on Saturday on Ocean Parkway near Quentin Road in the Midwood neighborhood.
According to police, a mother and her three children were crossing the street when Yarimi, driving an Audi, rear-ended a Toyota Camry. The impact propelled the Camry, while the Audi continued forward, striking the mother and her children in the crosswalk.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch expressed her dismay, stating, "I will call it like it is. This was a horrific tragedy caused by someone who shouldn't have been on the road." Tisch also said, "A mother and two young children killed. Another child fighting for his life. A family and a neighborhood devastated."
