An elderly pedestrian was tragically decapitated in Brooklyn on Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle from the city's Department of Transportation, according to police and sources, - NY Post writes.

The 86-year-old man was crossing 92nd Street around 3:30 p.m. when a truck hit him at Dahlgren Place in Bay Ridge. The impact was so severe that it resulted in the victim’s head being severed from his body, sources informed The Post.

Disturbing photos show police covering the remains with a sheet while the yellow DOT truck, equipped with a crane, is parked in the background.

The man’s body lay several yards away in the crosswalk.
