A mini school bus parked outside a home in Brooklyn caught fire early Thursday morning, ABC News7 reports.

The incident occurred on East 93rd Street near Avenue L in Canarsie around 6:10 a.m.

As the flames consumed the bus, they spread to a nearby garage and home. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze after some time, but it proved to be persistent.

"It was horrible because the fire wouldn't go down quickly," said witness Genevieve Artamin. "The more water they sprayed, the more the fire seemed to grow." No injuries were reported.

Neighbors mentioned that the homeowner owns two mini school buses, which he uses for construction work.

"I just heard someone shout 'fire,' and that was it," said neighbor Jean Louis. "The bus wasn’t even in use, just parked. It was a big, smoking fire."

A vacate notice has since been posted on the garage door. The owner of the buses, one of which was parked in the street, was not at home when the fire occurred.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
