Firefighters and civilian injured in 3-alarm fire in Staten Island church

Eight firefighters and one civilian were injured while battling a 3-alarm fire at the Full Gospel Tabernacle on Staten Island on Tuesday evening, officials reported, ABC News 7 informs.

 

The fire broke out just before 7 p.m. at the 3.5-story church located at 1074 Castleton Avenue, between West Street and State Street.

 

A total of 33 units and 138 firefighters responded to the scene, according to fire officials.

 

The injured firefighters were transported to Richmond University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

 

The fire was brought under control by 9:31 p.m. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
