A fire ripped through the Bronx early Monday morning, leaving the family homeless, FDNY informs.
The fire started at about 4 in the morning in a residential building on Fteley Avenue in the Soundview section of the Bronx. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene found a large number of lithium-ion batteries in a smoke-filled room.
It is not yet clear whether they caused the fire, or were simply in the house. The causes of the fire are currently being investigated.
As a result of the incident, the mother and her three children, one of whom needs special care, were were displaced by the fire.
The family lived in a second-floor apartment with their 10 cats. Her son said that just one cat survived.
The Red Cross says it's helping with temporary lodging.
