An 85-year-old man died after a house fire broke out Monday evening in Seaford, Long Island, according to officials. Nassau County police reported that officers responded to the blaze around 7 p.m. on Crescent Cove Court and found the second floor of the home engulfed in flames, Channel 12 Long Island reports.
The Seaford Fire Department, along with firefighters from four other departments, responded and managed to bring the fire under control within an hour, said Nassau County Chief Fire Marshal Michael Uttaro. Approximately 100 firefighters were involved in extinguishing the flames, which caused extensive damage to the residence.
The victim has not yet been identified, and no other injuries were reported. Uttaro noted that the investigation is ongoing, but the fire is not considered suspicious, and its cause has not been linked to a lithium-ion battery.
