Man accused of raping 14-year-old boy in Queens; more victims expected

Source: NYPD Crime Stoppers
A 63-year-old Queens man has been charged with raping a 14-year-old boy in order to receive $50, and detectives believe there may be other victims, according to NYPD.
On July 1, the NYPD released a photo of Virgilio Taveras and the gray sedan he allegedly lured the victim into, at the corner of 171st Street and Jamaica Avenue in Jamaica.
According to police, Taveras drove up to the guy, honked at him, waved and said that his brother owned a construction company and that he could find a job.
Then he had sexual intercourse with the guy and, getting out of the car, gave him a 50-dollar bill.
Two days later, Taveras was arrested by the New York Police Department's Special Victims Unit. The next day, Taveras appeared in court, and bail was set at $20,000.
He's charged with rape, luring a child, endangering the welfare of a child, and sexual abuse.
Detectives have reason to believe that he may have become close to other teenagers.
The NYPD is asking any other victims to please come forward by calling the NYPD's Sex Crimes Hotline at 1-212-267-RAPE (7273), the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
