An MTA bus was left precariously balanced on the edge of an elevated road in the Bronx on Friday morning, as captured in dramatic video footage, PIX 11 New York News informs.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene near 2601 Henry Hudson Parkway and Kappock Street at approximately 8:40 a.m.
According to MTA union representatives, the incident began when the driver of a BxM1 bus became stuck while attempting a turn on the Henry Hudson Parkway, leading to a traffic backup.
A second MTA bus driver, positioned two vehicles behind the BxM1, approached on foot to assist, union officials said.
While attempting to navigate the turn, the second driver lost control of the bus, which slid and crashed through the barrier wall, the union reported.
Fortunately, the BxM1 bus was not carrying passengers at the time. Firefighters successfully rescued the driver, who escaped without injury.
