A 21-year-old man was found shot dead on a playground in the Bronx on Friday. An investigation is underway, NYPD informs.
Officers arrived in the area of Croton Park East and East 173rd Street around 1 p.m. They found there a young man dead with a gunshot wound to the head.
The victim turned out to be 21-year-old Irvin Provitt, police said.
Witnesses say that parents and children rushed in panic after gunfire rang out on the playground.
Police say that two people fled the scene, who also turned out to be young men. No arrests have been made yet.
Residents say they often turn to the police for help, especially on issues that arise in the park.
