NYPD officer injured in crash on West Shore Expressway in Staten Island

A hit-and-run crash on the West Shore Expressway in Staten Island left an NYPD officer injured, - ABC news reports.
The incident occurred between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Thursday, near exit 9, as the officer's cruiser was rear-ended by a southbound vehicle.
Following the crash, the driver fled the scene, prompting a swift response from the NYPD. The injured officer was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of neck and back injuries.
Both ground units and K9 teams scoured the nearby wooded areas, while the department's helicopter conducted an aerial search.
The suspect was taken into custody just after 10:15 a.m.
As of now, the identities of both the officer and the suspect, as well as any potential charges, have not been disclosed.
