NYPD officers crashed into a storefront on Monday while responding to calls after a 13-year-old boy was grazed in the forehead by a bullet in the Bronx, - ABC News7 reports.
The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on East 169th Street. The teen was walking to the playground at the time and was taken to the hospital, where he is expected to recover.
As police rushed to the scene, one cruiser swerved to avoid another vehicle and slammed into a storefront on Webster Avenue. The officers were hospitalized and are reported to be in stable condition.
A relative of the injured teen said he was not the intended target and was walking with two younger cousins he had just picked up from his grandmother's house.
"Bullets don't know names, color, gender, age—that's unacceptable," his aunt stated.
No arrests have been made so far, and the investigation is ongoing.
