The MTA persists in its efforts to combat toll evasion across local bridges and tunnels, - ABC7 reports.

Their latest initiative, termed the "ghost plate" operation, resulted in the seizure of 57 vehicles, marking the 11th instance of such seizures. The confiscated vehicles belonged to individuals with various infractions, including unpaid tolls, unregistered vehicles, suspended licenses, and other violations.

The total sum of unpaid tolls, fees, and judgements accumulated by these violators amounted to nearly $302,000.

Additionally, 19 individuals were arrested, and over 100 summonses were issued.

Since its inception, the MTA's ghost plate operation has led to the seizure of 675 cars, the arrest of 161 individuals, and the issuance of over 4,700 citations.
