There is no consolation for Shauntea Weaver. Weaver was supposed to get married on Sunday in a beautiful ceremony, but her dreams turned into a nightmare, ABC News 7 reports.
In the early hours of Saturday, just before 2:20 a.m., a pick-up truck was reportedly driving the wrong way on the Henry Hudson Parkway, heading southbound in the northbound lanes. Near 165th Street in Washington Heights, the truck collided head-on with a Dodge sedan, resulting in the tragic deaths of both passengers in the sedan.
The driver of the sedan, Kirk Walker, Jr., who was supposed to be Weaver's groom, and his 40-year-old cousin lost their lives in the crash.
"I feel like I'm watching a fictitious TV show. It doesn't seem real to me," Weaver said.
Authorities report that both occupants of the pick-up truck fled the scene. One has been apprehended, but the driver remains at large.
This tragedy has left a bride without her groom and two families grappling with unbearable grief.
"I have faith in God. I hope you suffer the way I'm suffering," Weaver added.
Instead of celebrating the union of two lives, family and friends gathered in Bergenfield, New Jersey on Sunday to offer their support and condolences.
