A significant blaze erupted in a Bronx apartment building on early Sunday morning, leaving three individuals requiring medical attention. The incident occurred on West 162nd Street, drawing a large response from emergency services, BC News 7 informs.
According to the FDNY, more than 100 firefighters responded to the fire, which officials say started on the sixth floor.
The New York City Fire Department dispatched over a hundred personnel to combat the flames, which originated on the building's sixth floor. Dramatic footage captured the intensity of the situation, showing thick plumes of smoke and intense fire pouring from the apartment windows. Firefighters successfully brought the situation under control a little after 1:00 AM.
During the firefighting efforts, two members of the FDNY sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital for evaluation and care. In addition to the firefighters, one resident was also injured, though he declined immediate medical assistance at the scene.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by fire marshals, who are working to determine the origin and circumstances surrounding the incident.
