Police in the Bronx are on the lookout for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident, - ABC News & reports.
Authorities report that the incident occurred in the Morrisania section of the Bronx shortly before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28.
According to police, a woman was crossing Washington Avenue at East 167th Street when a black Toyota Rav 4 clipped the bumper of a blue Jeep SUV, causing the Jeep to lose control. The out-of-control Jeep struck the woman, propelling her into a parked car, which the Jeep then also collided with.
Instead of waiting for assistance, three occupants of the Jeep fled the scene on foot, according to police.
The 30-year-old pedestrian was transported to the hospital, where she died. Her identity has not yet been disclosed.
Local residents noted that the Jeep driver is known in the neighborhood, and they hope he will turn himself in.
The driver of the Toyota Rav 4 remained at the scene and has not been charged.
The investigation is ongoing.
