Young man struck, killed by NYPD car on Van Wyck Expressway in Queens

A pedestrian was fatally struck by an NYPD patrol vehicle on the Van Wyck Expressway early Sunday morning, - ABC News7 reports.
 

According to police, the incident occurred on the southbound side of the highway near Liberty Avenue around 4:30 a.m.
 

The 23-year-old man was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
 

The driver stayed at the scene.
 

It is unclear how the pedestrian ended up on the Van Wyck Expressway.
